It’s been nearly a year since Allied Rock acquired the X-Rock Quarry and we’re off to a great start providing quality basalt rock products for our customers throughout the Santiam Canyon and Mid-Willamette Valley!
Basalt is a volcanic rock that solidifies during the rapid cooling of basaltic lava, effectively forging the stone into one of the toughest rocks on the planet. It is water, frost, stain, and acid resistant and is considered a versatile, strong, reliable stone. X-Rock’s basalt is also ODOT and BPA approved, making it ready for any application required!
Commercial Uses for Basalt
Allied Rock’s crushed quarry rock comes in a variety of sizes, including ½” minus, ¾” minus, 1 ½” minus, 3” minus, pit run and larger. Its strong structural integrity and natural insensitivity to chemical influences and mechanical and natural stresses make it a perfect material for road construction.
Residential Uses for Basalt
Basalt is also a very beautiful rock. Our new quarry has been providing our sister company Siegmund Landscape Supply with decorative rock, including natural basalt pillars and dish-shaped rocks that make perfect birdbaths, as well as many other rock products that can be used for a variety of purposes. Choose smaller sizes for footpaths and driveways, and larger boulders for retaining walls and embankments.
Allied Rock’s On-site Operations
Our crews are also able to crush & stockpile rock on-site on a contract basis with our portable crushing equipment. Crushing Foreman Justin Shorter heads up this portion of our operations. We provide portable crushing services across the State of Oregon, operating in as many as 25-30 different quarries per year for a variety of customers, including highway & heavy construction contractors, timber companies, farms, nurseries, and land developers.
Back at the quarry, Quarry Manager Stephen Norwood keeps the process running smoothly, assisting in loading trucks and managing the stockpiles. We’re also in the process of installing a new scale system with an AWS kiosk that utilizes Interact Scale Data Collection software. Drivers access this system with specially assigned RFID cards specific to their company and truck to allow for a faster loading process for our commercial customers. Delivery is available north to Wilsonville, and south to Eugene and our team of drivers can bring a single load or a series of truckloads right to your job site!
X-Rock Quarry is conveniently located at 18825 Old Mehama Road in Stayton, just off Hwy 22. We’re open to commercial customers Monday thru Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and our delivery service is offered to both residential and commercial customers during that time.
